Apparel graphics by its very nature involves interpretation of past and present fashion and design. I am sad to announce that the ferociously talented Sydney Pollack has passed at the age of 73. Pollack was an understated giant of the film industry. He wrote, directed and acted in some of the best movies of all time. No joke. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone has written a remembrance. Read it here.
One of this planets first species to be quite literally in danger of extinction because of climate change, is finally being acknowledged for that fact. A decade after the scientific community first started to voice a real concern about Polar Bears and the fact that their native environment had started to look like a melting ice sculpture of a hunk of swiss cheese, they are only now being protected under the EPA's ballyhooed Endangered Species Act. Until now, their lack of protection has been a thorn in the side of environmental advocates in Washington who see this as only another example of politicians hiding from the realities of climate change.
